Bags of innovation:
This week some 450+ passengers and I arrived at ski destinations without our baggage. No airline explanations, no airport customer service! – just lots of unknowns and frustrations as we embarked on our first ski holiday in years.
Such disruption and anxiety to many families is no surprise after one of the UKs biggest storms in 100 years!
But how can the baggage handling system be improved?
The challenge for airports remains the same – moving baggage manually to and from the airport terminal to the aircraft is time-consuming, costly and labour-intensive.
Automating check-in conveyors, baggage screening, sorting, make-up and reclaim is proven to improve process efficiency, passenger experience and safety, but surely we can do more?
Startups – a call to action! The global airport baggage handling market was worth $5.4bn in 2019 and is expected to expand at a CAGR of 0.5% through 2025. Why not partner with Market Leaders and embrace integrating technologies:
🌦Internet of Things (IoT)
🏂Radio-frequency identification (RFID)
⛷Robotics
🎿Blockchain
What solutions would you offer for end-to-end baggage handling in the future?
